At the crossroads of Thrace and Eastern Macedonia, Philippi Park spans one of Greece’s most ecologically and culturally rich landscapes. Surrounded by the dramatic ranges of Pangaion, Falakro, Orvilos, and Menoikio – alongside the world’s deepest peatland – the area is a mosaic of biodiversity, agro-cultural tradition, and 8,000 years of history.
Commissioned in 2018 by the Municipality of Kavala, the Masterplan proposes 50 interconnected actions that effortlessly align with the UN’s 2030 goals. Together, they support a cohesive vision for social, ecological, and economic revitalization, championing circular economy models, regenerative tourism, and the preservation of iconic sites such as the UNESCO-listed Philippi and historic Via Egnatia.
Awarded the 2021 Golden Prize at the Panhellenic-Pancyprian Landscape Architecture Awards, and featured in Issue 67 of Construction Magazine, the plan delivers a visionary framework that is anchored in history and built for a climate-resilient future.
